He's not a pedophile, right?

Yukito is a young man trying to find his way in the world. He is a traveling performer, setting up his act wherever he will get an audience. Ever since he was young his mother always told him stories of a girl in the sky. After her death it has been his lifelong mission to find this girl. Misuzu, a young girl, is a misfit in every sense of the word. She has no friends in school. She isn’t particularly good at anything. She is incredibly clumsy. She wasn’t wanted by her parents and she’s not wanted by her aunt, with whom she is living. But one day, while standing staring over the ocean she runs into Yukito, who is asleep. He awakes to her staring down at him and so their friendship begins. After being taken to Misuzu’s house Yukito finds out that Misuzu’s aunt is very easy going and likes to drink every night. One of their nights drinking, Yukito finds out that Misuzu is not very good at becoming close to people. When she feels that she is becoming too close to them she starts bawling uncontrollably. Yukito and Misuzu quickly become odd friends, learning from each other. Misuzu reveals that she dreams of flying through the sky every night.

On a bright afternoon while Yukito is waiting to pick up Misuzu from school he runs into an interesting dog that says “peko peko” all the time. Yukito discovers that this dog is friends with a mysterious girl named Kano. She believes that the yellow ribbon on her arm, if kept there until adulthood, will grant her magical powers. Everybody is vying for something that they believe will better their lives. Will anyone be able to make their dreams come true to make their lives worthwhile?

More of the Same

The three discs are contained in two plastic cases with very colorful inserts which can be taken out and used as posters. The cases in turn are then placed into a fun cardboard container with images of the three main girls of the front and a short synopsis on the back. The artwork is a little strange from that which I am used to. The girls are still stick thin and pretty, but they have weird widely spaced and slanted eyes. Also, every character has a strange cowlick making their bangs stick out. I guess that’s just the style? There are some very beautiful scenes in this series that makes watching it worthwhile.

The Set Standard

There are few extras included with this series: textless songs and trailers.  The trailers on this disc are for Jyu-Oh-Sei, Fullmetal Alchemist, Project Blue Earth SOS, Kenichi, Samurai 7, Hana, Dragonball Z, and Ouran High School Host Club.

This was definitely not my favorite anime. The characters were drawn weird and had weird reactions. There were too many minor stories and characters and it made the whole series very confusing.

Movies

The Film/Show Not much of a story line, too many smaller stories contained in the big one.
Presentation Average, nothing to catch the eye.
Extra Features The usual with any anime set.
Tilt The story was interesting, but not very entertaining.
