Did you ever think that Blu-ray could be educational? HA! Thanks to A&E Home Entertainment it can be educational.... (wait for it) and FUN.
On March 16th, A&E Home Entertainment will release Clash of the Gods and for any Greek history buffs out there or Clash of the Titans fans out there, or pretty much any professor or teacher this could be a fun ride.

Coming off the odd success of Napoleon Dynamite (not related to Black Dynamite), creator Jared Hess presents another oddball story of a struggling loser trying to find his smile.
Capped with flying deer, cyclops sporting beautiful pink outfits and a plagiaristic author, there's no telling where the story might go.
Let's see how it went.

It's impossible to separate the term 'ninja' from awesome. For centuries, the legend and myth of the ninja has been the subject of many stories, films, games, and books, and it's a topic that never gets old or becomes any less awesome over time. That said, to me there is a surprising lack of ninja-related media these days, but lately ninja fans have been lucky -- both Ninja Assassins and First Look Studio's Ninja are out on Blu-ray now. Earlier this week, I watched Ninja, and here's what I discovered.

In 1981, I had traveled with my father to the theater for the first time. It was my first official film of my life. I didn't know what to expect and quite frankly, I didn't care. Clash of the Titans was the film and it was such a long time ago that I actually remember receiving a program of the film in the lobby of the theater (yes, it was a long time ago). The film had everything a kid could want; a hero, a princess, monsters and a flying horse. It was perfect for me and it wore down our top loading VCR in less than two years ($1300 device back in the day).
Fast forward nearly 30 years and it has been released on Blu-ray from Warner Home Video. Can it still capture the same magic that the young kid remembers from the early 80s?

How do you explain the universe in a nine hour span of time? You do it on Blu-ray, baby!

Suspense and terror usually accompany a horror film that is predictable as it is cheap. Thankfully, Warner Home Video and director Richard Kelly attempted to break the norm with The Box.
The question is did they push all the right buttons?

Halo fans or anyone looking into finding out more about the Halo universe should give Halo Legends a serious look. The animated feature runs about two hours and is comprised of seven different tales from within Bungie's epic sci-fi universe. Even better is the variety and quality of animation; let's take a closer look.

You're going to hate me, Stargate fans. It's okay.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was kicking a lot of ass in the late 80s. In 1987 alone he released two sci-fi classics -- Predator and The Running Man. Predator is certainly a better movie, but The Running Man is pretty darn cool in itself. Lions Gate just released the film on Blu-ray and they've done a nice job with it.

With the recent release of Universal Soldier: Regeneration, I made it point to go back and watch the original Universal Soldier and the lesser known sequel from 1999, Universal Soldier: The Return. Last week, the Blu-ray version of The Return came in for review, and I was faced with the uneasy task of revisiting this bad action sci-fi flick. While the film is awful, the presentation quality is pretty good -- but this release remains for die hard JCVD fans alone.
