SNK has been the home of many great franchises over the years. Any list of those would have to include Metal Slug, the hit 2D platforming/side-scrolling shoot'em up. Metal Slug has been on a variety of platforms in the last twelve-plus years, most recently making its return to the PSP with Metal Slug XX. Featuring an all new campaign, six playable characters, wireless two player co-op, and dozens of challenges, Metal Slug XX is fun, although very familiar entry to the series.

I have a weakness in my heart for side-scrollers. Trine definitely plays on the nostalgia card by taking three unsuspecting heroes with their own skill sets to have them solve physics puzzles to stop the advance of an undead army in this "2.5d" adventure

The PSN was home to many great releases in 2008 and right at the tail end of the year there was yet another solid entry to the PSN catalog in the form of Crash Commando. Crash Commando was developed by EPOS Game Studios, a Swedish development company. Their first entry onto the PSN, Crash Commando is a side scrolling, platforming shooter that pits two rival factions against each other in an over-the-top blastfest.

All the DS fanboys out there are now pouting, and rightfully so. Konami, creator of the Castlevania series, has decided to bring over an oldie from Japan, tweak it a bit and introduce it on the Playstation Portable.
