MLB 2K10 has arrived! Baseball fans across the country couldn't be happier, unless you're a Reds' fan. Things have come and gone for the series and this looks to be the best out of the bunch.
As with life, though, nothing is perfect and the same rules apply to MLB 2K10.

MLB: The Show series has been ever so close to being spectacular for many years. The game has always had one or two elements that has kept it from moving even or ahead of the 2K competition. With that said, Sony has pulled out all the stops in attempts to pull ahead of MLB 2Kxx for the title of best ball game around.
This year SCEA added a Home Run Derby and Catcher's Point of View to their library of neat add-ons to their ongoing baseball series.
Would it be enough to pull ahead and steal second? Or will they simply be out at the plate? Let's play ball to find out.

The Winter Olympics in Vancouver start in several days, and earlier this month Sega released their officially licensed video game on the Xbox 360 and PS3. I've spent several hours with Vancouver 2010 and while it's pretty fun, it lacks any real depth or substance that makes you want to keep on playing. Let's take a closer look.

The Tony Hawk video game franchise was due for an overhaul, but I don't think many expected what Tony Hawk himself announced at this year's E3. The new Tony Hawk, simply known as Ride, would include its own skateboard controller. The idea is marvelous, but how does the final product shape up? I couldn't wait to find out when we got it in for review.

It's not going to set the world on fire, but at its budget price, it's a good stocking stuffer choice for the little futbol fanatic in your family.

You can't get anymore hardcore about NCAA basketball then you can when you're a Kentucky fan. We expect perfection (okay, near perfection) and an almost unrivaled amount of discipline when it comes to basketball.
In other words, EA needed to deliver with their latest release of NCAA Basketball.

When we got FIFA Soccer 10 in for review we all stared at it like it was an alien object from an unknown planet. That reaction is typical when it comes to soccer in these areas as Kentucky is mainly known as a basketball state. Football comes after basketball in the listing and somewhere around field hockey and kickball, soccer shows up.
We had requested this game, though. As silly as it sounds, my daughter's first year in soccer was this year and I was determined to learn what I considered nothing more than a 'glorified game of kickball'. What I learned through her propelled me through this review.

Things you should know before this review begins. I was at Wrestlemania V in Atlantic City. I still fully believe that the WWE should be the WWF. My favorite tag team folks are/were the British Bulldogs.
Most importantly, I've played every wrestling game since the Wrestlemania game in the arcades.
There's a good start.

I've had the good fortune to be able to check out all three NBA titles this year. First, SCEA's NBA 10: The Inside, then 2K Sports' NBA 2K10, and now, the winner of the most improved NBA game of the year, NBA Live 10 from EA Sports. In recent years, the gap between 2K and Live has been considerable, but this year the choice isn't nearly so obvious with a tremendous effort from the Live team. For those of us that remember the glory days of NBA Live in the 90s and early 2000s, I have two words to say in regards to Live 10: "I'm Back."

The NBA season is nearly upon us and with it inevitably comes the newest version of a trio of NBA video games. Last week, I reviewed SCEA's newest NBA title for a spin, and in the meantime I've been keeping busy with NBA 2K10 from 2K Sports, and NBA Live 10 from EA Sports. In the last few years, 2K Sports has had a firm grip on the annual NBA titles, but EA has definitely made some strong progress this year. Despite that, between the two, 2K10 gets my recommendation, but it has room to improve. Let's take a closer look at this year's offering.

As a gamer and a sports fan, I love this time of year. The holiday gaming season is in full swing, football is everywhere, the NHL is back, and the NBA is nearly underway. In fact, I just watch some preseason NBA earlier tonight. As a fan of NBA hoops and games, each year at this time I'm taking in the newest versions of the three annual NBA titles that include NBA 2K from 2K Sports, NBA Live from EA Sports, and NBA from the San Diego Studios of SCEA. Up first this year for me is NBA 10: The Inside from Sony. Unlike recent years, NBA 10 is only available on the PSP this year as opposed to also including the PS2 and PS3. However like previous years, NBA 10 is much more than just an NBA sim. It's chock full of great alternate modes that are very likely to capture more of your time than the actual NBA sim itself.

After a very successful outing last year with NHL 09, developer EA Canada and publisher EA Sports are back with NHL 10. Instead of just providing an updated roster and a few new animations, EA added a lot of compelling new features and managed to not only match the level of NHL 09, but exceed it. Greatest hockey game ever?

With preseason NHL games on TV and the MLB entering the playoffs, it's that time of year again for 2K Sports and EA to showcase their newest NHL games. Late last month, I participated in a 2K Sports conference call on NHL 2K10 that got me excited about this year's offering after the disappointment that was 2K9. Well, while 2K10 is a step forward from 2K9, it still can't match EA's offering and unless you are looking for an NHL title for the Wii or PS2, you can safely skip this one.
