The NBA season is nearly upon us and with it inevitably comes the newest version of a trio of NBA video games. Last week, I reviewed SCEA's newest NBA title for a spin, and in the meantime I've been keeping busy with NBA 2K10 from 2K Sports, and NBA Live 10 from EA Sports. In the last few years, 2K Sports has had a firm grip on the annual NBA titles, but EA has definitely made some strong progress this year. Despite that, between the two, 2K10 gets my recommendation, but it has room to improve. Let's take a closer look at this year's offering.

With preseason NHL games on TV and the MLB entering the playoffs, it's that time of year again for 2K Sports and EA to showcase their newest NHL games. Late last month, I participated in a 2K Sports conference call on NHL 2K10 that got me excited about this year's offering after the disappointment that was 2K9. Well, while 2K10 is a step forward from 2K9, it still can't match EA's offering and unless you are looking for an NHL title for the Wii or PS2, you can safely skip this one.

Spring training starts today – 2K Sports has released MLB 2K9 this week on multiple platforms. We were pleased to receive the Xbox 360 version in for review, and although I don't have a great history of playing baseball games, MLB 2K9 was easy to get into, and fun to play. Let's check it out.

I had a great time with two friends last year as we played through our NBA 2K8 season over the course of several months. We've been looking forward to NBA 2K9 since, and now it's finally here, and our new season has begun. The best game for NBA simulation continues to improve upon itself and this year is no exception.

It's about that time of the year again to lace up the skates and take to the ice as the new NHL season draws nearer. As always, EA Sports and 2K Sports have put together their respective titles and we were fortunate enough to receive both games in for review. I've spent the better part of the weekend with 2K's offering, NHL 2K9, so lets get to the review.

Top Spin has been a leading franchise in tennis video gaming for years, now. Many racquet sport enthusiasts trust this franchise to deliver a more accurate recreation of the sport to their console than competitors such as Sega's Virtua Tennis. I'm a fan of Sega's latest and was actually pretty excited to get my hands on its lead rival series. Expectations for this title are high considering this is its third installment after two previously successful titles. Top Spin has done well to satisfy sports gamers for several years and the third installment has evolved in a slightly more defined direction this time around.

It has been six months since the last time this editor has reviewed a title, please forgive me if I’m a bit rusty.
