Systems as successful as the DS, GBA, Wii, or PS2 don’t necessarily require developers to create unique games in order to be profitable. If people are buying the system (which is/was the case with these systems), chances are there’s some group of people that will buy your game, regardless of its quality or distinctiveness. Thus, over the years, core gamers have had to sift through a large amount of subpar games to find the real gems of these systems (or nowadays, the internet has been the greatest educator in grading games). However, every now and then, a diamond in the rough can be found amongst the less advertised titles and delightfully surprises us all.

It's been over a year now since Vampire Rain was released for the Xbox 360 to a battery of dismal reviews with issues noted such as laughable AI, terrible story, weak presentation, a ludicrously linear 'stealth' experience – the list goes on. Now the 'experience' comes to PS3 in the form of Vampire Rain: Altered Species. Altered Species is still the same (bad) game with just a handful of additional features that do nothing to improve the game.
