I thought King of Kong was a fine film. Reigning Donkey Kong high score champion Billy Mitchell was presented as an exceptional dastardly fiend, and the challenger, everyman Steve Wiebe, won hearts of thousands with his earnest sense of dedication. The authenticity may be disputed, but, regardless, the documentary did a fantastic job of creating characters and maintaining interest.
Thanks to G4, Wiebe was poised to make another run at Mitchell's record at E3 this year. I didn't think it was worth covering, but my friends, specifically my female friends, demanded I try and cover this event. Apparently Wiebe is one of the most charming men ever created, and throngs off sane women are inexplicably attracted to his presense.
I couldn't stay for the entire attempt (it's e3, we have tons of stuff to do), but I did oblige their requests and I stuck around long enough to snap a few pictures. So, enjoy, I guess.
